Tokyo Dreams

I have had an obsession with Japan for many years and it provided me with inspiration for this range. It is a country with a strong sense of tradition and rich past, yet at the same time it is at the fore front of modern technology and has a very strong, and visual, youth culture. The bright colours and shapes of the badges were inspired by the youth culture and I used elements from traditional Kimono fabrics to create patterns which represent the traditions and past. Working with anodised aluminium allows me to apply the patterns using a variety of printing techniques and achieve the bright colours in a relatively low tech way
